It's kind of astonishing that people are still making this mistake. The charts going around comparing case counts from Europe and the US tell you almost nothing because our tests per capita are almost double most of Europe right now.
The press spent months yelling about how we don't have enough testing, and now they are using the fact that we have continued ramping up testing and identifying cases being missed in most countries as evidence we are doing much worse. It's very frustrating to watch.
Although there is a lag, deaths per capita are a much better indicator of where we are and the direction. You can see it's a mixed bag. Several European countries are flattening more, but had much higher curves originally.
