#doctorsday2020

When the World is battling #COVIDー19, I can see more n more inclination towards traditional methods of living and treatment. On this #DoctorsDay, let me share my limited knowledge on the subject.

Time to reboot. (1/n)
1. Your kitchen is your chemist shop. Each food ingredient there is ‘aushadhi’ (medicine); read ‘daadi maa ke nuskhe’ (grandmother’s tips).

2. Try brushing with ‘neem’ stem! You will be surprised.
3. Take raw ‘haldi’ (turmeric), ‘adrak’ (ginger) along with dried dates (all finely sliced with seasoning and lemon) with your food on daily basis. Drink some green vegetable juice every day in the morning. Start your day with warm water with few drops of lemon in it.
Have one ‘amla’ (gooseberry) every day. You can have it in ‘murabba’ (sweet pickled) style.

4. Decide what your body is - temple or waste bin. Then think what will go in.

5. Eat only 70% of what you can or your hunger.

6. Digestion is key to good health.
7. Eat with sunrise, stop with sunset. Fresh cooked food. Within 50 minutes of cooking.

8. Try cooking only in earthenware pots n pans. It is easy. You can put on gas flame. Food is tasty and remains fresh for longer hours. Metals harm the food.
9. Keep long gaps between two eating. Give time for body to rest or else it is busy all the time digesting food for you. Particularly important point to remain disease free.

10. Drink enough water to remain hydrated. But avoid before and after eating.
Do not put water on ‘agni’ (acids) of digestion. Try to have water only from earthenware pot.

11. Sleep well. At least 7-8 hours in a day. Like a kid. Nothing wrong in sleeping for some time in the afternoon – what you call – power nap! Sleep timing should match with nature.
Try to be up by ‘brahma muhurat’ (very early morning).

12. Burn energy by following rigorous physical discipline. Brisk walking/jogging, yoga and massage with local oil like ‘til’ (sesame) or ‘coconut’ or ‘sarso’ (mustard) is a good combination to do on different days of a week
Those who love gyms, please continue but loud music and ACs are deterrents to a good exercise. Supplements to build muscles etc should be a big no.

13.Pranayama is a must. Cells not getting enough oxygen leads to cancer. Your breaths are counted. You are dead if count is over.
Pranayama teaches you how to control your breath n make lungs powerful.

14. Traditional ways of keeping your system clean like ‘jalneeti’ etc are particularly good methods to keep virus etc away from us.

15.Treat whole body as one. One ailment cannot be treated in isolation.
It is connected to everything else in the body. All medicines have side effects, we must understand; avoid taking them as much as you can. Remember ‘aushadhis’ from kitchen?
16. Take a pause, turn to traditional methodology of living and treatments. Get toxins out of your body in a daily manner. Time to turn to a naturopath. Or at least start with Ayurveda.
