Who fancies a night out with Doncaster Council?

Pubs, bars and restaurants are re-opening this Saturday, and things will be quite different when they do.

Luckily, your dreams have come true: the local government is here to enjoy your night out with you!

Let’s do this.
First of all, we know what you’re thinking – you never thought you’d be having a night on the town with the local council.

Listen, we know how to let our hair down too! We like a raucous quarterly team meeting as much as the next person
We all know that the best part of ANY night out is the administrative planning beforehand, particularly if you make a binder full of your plans with colour-coded tabs.
Despite how much we’re longing to tell you about Licensing laws and health messages, we PROMISE we’re going to try and be fun while we help you plan for your Saturday night out.
FIRST THINGS FIRST: you’ll need to think about how you’re getting there and back.

There will be taxis, but there may be limited numbers that can be inside at once. Similarly, buses and trains might be running different timetables.

Book in advance and look up transport times.
Our advice is to arrange for someone to pick you up after the evening if you’re able to!

The last thing anyone wants after a night out is to be stood in a long, physically-distanced taxi queue wondering whether the bloke behind you has washed his hands recently.
SECONDLY- check whether places will be open!

Not every pub, bar or restaurant will be open, and those that are will probably be taking pre-bookings only.

Have a think about where you want to go and make a bit of a plan beforehand.
THIRD – think about payments

Pretty much everywhere will be taking contactless payments so bear that in mind.
Make sure you take a face covering and hand sanitiser with you too!

Some places might not let you in if you don’t have a face covering, and that could well be the case with taxis!
Now, obviously for OUR nights out, we wear a rather nifty little bumbag with our important bits in, so there’s a free tip for you!
Probably the most important thing you can do is keep your distance from other people, and try to wash your hands regularly.
We know distancing might be hard after a couple of drinks (and you’ll want to put your arm round us and tell us how much you LOVE the council), but it’s still the most important way to stay safe.
Similarly, if you’re going to a local pub and seeing regulars you’ve not seen for ages, it’ll be a lovely moment! Just make sure you don’t get carried away and start hugging everyone!

2metres is still the safest distance.
As the most COUNCIL phrase ever says:

"The best night out is a SAFE night out"!
We’ll be updating this thread with more tips and advice as the weekend gets closer, so keep checking back!
