To conclude what was a cracking episode, Susan has apologised to Tracey and Freddie has written a very special letter to Lynda. He has taken on the mantle left by Nigel and sounds more like his father every day. #TheArchers
And another thing.. Ed is unhappy about William's continued laziness. *We mustn't upset Will* he quotes. Why shouldn't we? Well you don't want him getting his shotgun out again #TheArchers
A lot to go at in tonight's public service broadcasting #TheArchers catch-up. Shall we start with Brian missing Siobhan? Or just how great it is to hear Debbie's voice again 😊
Debbie's had bad news about her father, Roger Travers-Macy. He's had Covid-19. She's not keen to pass on the news to her parents so it will be Adam she tells. Meanwhile, inside Adam's head, his thoughts are much the same moans that we normally hear him sharing widely #TheArchers
Brian & Jennydarling are looking after Xander. Specifically, Brian is on the early shift, all those early starts in the lambing shed will help with that. But do the UK Covid-19 laws allow grandparents to provide Adam and Iain with childcare? A *grey* area perhaps #TheArchers
Alice is waiting for her wine delivery. Chris is missing being able to take her out. Alice's boss is still being a dick, apparently. Chris prefers self employment. After all this is over he'll have a fab new line in chainsaw tree sculptures #TheArchers
ALICE HAS RESIGNED!!! Ooh. Constructive dismissal case on its way? #TheArchers
And.. the very next day, Alice regrets it. Chris decides not to mention children to her. I don't think this is a decision he'll stick to, not after they've shared yet another bottle of red wine tonight. #TheArchers
And another thing. We've heard from, or about, just about everyone in the Home Farm camp, even Debbie, who has to call in from Hungary. But not from Ian. Surely he can't still be in NI? #TheArchers
I want to hear Ian's thoughts about what happened to his lovely kitchen, after he left it in the hands of an inferior chef. #TheArchers
But back to Alice, the ex Price Bauman employee, and her Dad. Brian thinks it odd that Adam didn't tell him about having no pickers. When he realises Alice is keeping quiet about her troubles what will he conclude? I blame the parents #TheArchers
Bridge Fresh deliveries, and Adam's cherry picking, are providing local people with employment in these difficult times. Brian likes this. Debbie worries about her other father, and provides a sympathetic ear to Alice. She doesn't worry about Alice though.. she's fine #TheArchers
Debbie doesn't worry about Alice again today. Adam worries that Ian will go mad when he sees the state of his kitchen. Just wait till he sees the state of Grey Gables' kitchen, Adam, that'll take his mind off the edible paint on the floor #TheArchers
We also heard a timely sideline from Debbie. She's unhappy to discover that her local shopkeeper believes Debbie is an unwelcome foreigner. No mask on her face, a big disgrace, spreading her germs all over the place. OK, I added that last bit 😉 #TheArchers
And another thing. No Adam, you did not have to sack Eddie. It shows how settled Ed is now that he's prepared to work for you again #thearchers
To conclude this week in #TheArchers exploring the many versions of fatherhood, thank you to @BrendaMSelwyn for this Aldridge family tree which makes a bit more sense of the Aldridge family confusion Image
The Bull reopens! temperatures taken on entry, bookings for dinner service, one way systems, yellow tape, no loud chats. Either #TheArchers is now bang up to date or we've just heard Jolene's topical insert.
Plus, Harrison is on air discussing the challenges of policing during lockdown. Hedge warfare.. *put the trimmer down*... #TheArchers
Brian, Alice and Chris have been quite vocal since I tweeted this. Plus we've had more of Adam, yet no Ian. I ask you, is this fair? #TheArchers
Brian has discovered some flytipped rubbish on his land. No, he didn't do it himself this time. In helping clear it away, David finds junk mail addressed to Beechwood. Will the culprit be Joy? Better still, Phillip Moss? #Thearchers
BTW David has been furious about flytipping before. That time he lost cows that ate deadly poisonous hedge trimmings. This time, it's Brian who loses a harvester-load of grain, contaminated with broken glass. Where there's blame there's a claim & David's on the case #TheArchers
So Joy's address was on the letter amongst the flytipping. David's visit to the culprit was awkward, to say the least. But whose was the old bathroom suite? Not Joy's, hers is a new house. So who was the mysterious *man with a van* and who else's rubbish did he dump? #TheArchers
Harrison, Lizzie and Kenton on tonight. Harrison on the radio, and Lizzie on her own (but wanting to put that right). Kenton has been scheming to avoid accepting a new peacock, but has been beaten by Jolene. Eccles 2 awaits his new name, and his new lodgings #TheArchers
Harrison has been worried all week, unsure whether to bare his soul to us on Radio Carter? His honestly expressed thoughts about his childhood, why he became a police officer, & policing lockdown, win him loud applause from his listeners, and from the Tweetalong #TheArchers
Lacklustre, tedious and self-obsessed? Don't hold back, Lizzie, tell us what you really think about Ifty. I take it he's not coming back to Ambridge then. #Thearchers
Aah. So it may well have been Leroy's bathroom suite dumped in David's crop! Other gym instructors are available. #TheArchers
Oh this is too much. The rubbish removal guy has struck again and now one of Ed's Texels has been injured. Call Emma, Ed, she's not doing much, just growing vegetables #TheArchers
Yes Emma, you must grow stuff for the exotic vegetables class. I'm growing cucamelons this year #TheArchers
Chris, it's not just you who thinks Jennydarling is patronising. That was below the belt, setting her lose on your sister. Still, it's good to know Ambridge has the flower and produce show to look forward to #TheArchers
Brian is visiting Alice, who is ready for a new challenge. She says the vodka she's hiding from her dad is sorting out her headache. Brian's suggestion is a nip of whisky. The Aldridges certainly are a rum lot. #TheArchers
Emma has come to an arrangement with Clarrie. No more argument; Emma will grow the vegetables. Only one woman can wear the gardening trousers at Grange Farm.
And many thanks to @BrendaMSelwyn for letting me share her Aldridge family tree. I don't think we will see any issue from the Aldridge-Carter connection though.. #TheArchers
The lockdown episodes have given us some insight into Alice's situation. Her WAH habit before it became the norm; a boss who is impossible to satisfy. All indications of why she turns to drink for support. #TheArchers
Both Chris and her Dad tells her she's fine, so it's..
*I ain't got the time and if my daddy thinks I'm fine*
*They tried to make me go to rehab, I say no, no, no*
Debbie, perhaps you should have worried about Alice after all #TheArchers
What's this? Dumped Kitchen Units? These flytippers are serious criminals, Ed. Not as if you'd ever get involved with anyone like that, of course
#TheArchers
Emma worries about Ed as he and Will are out together, awaiting the return of the criminal flytippers. So criminal, they cut off Ed's padlock and put their own in its place. But no need to go under cover of darkness, Ed, they can't see you, you're on the radio #TheArchers
Emma's distressed. Tim Oaty, of all people, Ed won't dob him in. Ring crimestoppers she says. Even her baking is going wrong. Ed is pretty distressed too, which is probably fair tbh. Meanwhile Alice is considering asking Uncle Horrobin for his birthday wine back 😯
#TheArchers
Alice is just topping up her glass; Ed is using his thinking skills. Will he grass up Tim? Yes. Crime stoppers can score another success #TheArchers
Harrison reflects on his new fame courtesy of Radio Carter, the Crimestoppers call about Tim Oaty, the Environment Agency, and the problems of waiting in for online deliveries. Meanwhile Fallon thinks Prospero is a great name for a peacock while she takes a long stroll home.
Fallon's long stroll is to give Harrison time to get the atmosphere in the garden just right for his planned romantic holiday on the Costa del Ambridge. She seems to appreciate his efforts and regrets not being better prepared for wearing a swimsuit #TheArchers
Now Harrison's plans for a romantic staycation lie in ruins. He and Fallon will be babysitting their neice. Thanks a bunch, Marcus #TheArchers
When Harrison is finished babysitting his neice, will he follow up his referral of Tim Oatey to the Environment Agency? Now we know he's *no stranger to Borchester nick* I want him taken down asap #TheArchers
Just joined this thread? You can start from the beginning here #TheArchers
And another thing. If Tim Oatey is known to the police, how come Oliver was giving him maintenance work at Grey Gables? Must have misunderstood when someone described him as doing fencing #TheArchers
Tony's job is sorting out the attic, so Jonny must to deliver the late-order veg box to Joy. Don't take advice from Freddie, Jonny, buying scratch cards is a mug's game. Joy is learning Spanish via that interweb thingy. She prefers chatting to Eduardo than to David. #TheArchers
Ooh, Joy says she'll recognise the man who conned her over the fly-tipping 😊. Jonny has been conned into spending £50 on scratch cards. Only twenty two and got the gambling habit already 🙁 #TheArchers
Daisy and Rosie are playing together under the watchful eyes of Fallon and Pip. She's supposed to be on holiday too, but Joy will help out - she's auntie Joy already. But no, what's this, Jonny has lost his winning scratch card. That'll be Joy's fault. #TheArchers
In case you wondered, Daisy is Fallon's neice. Fallon is Harrison's wife. Harrison is Marcus's brother and Marcus is Daisy's father. Daisy's mum is in hospital giving birth to Daisy's new sibling. All clear now? Ok, now on to Harper and Noah, who are Rochelle's children. TBC...
Rochelle is Joy's daughter. Joy doesn't see her any more, not since she moved to Ambridge. There's a sad story about Joy's divorce, somewhere waiting to be told. Turns out Daisy's new sibling is a baby brother. Her baby brother is small, but Jonny is far away #TheArchers
And if you've just joined this #TheArchers thread, you can read from the beginning here. Have fun 😆
Daisy has won the hearts of Fallon and Harrison. Harrison reflects on Daisy's stay, and how she loves to sleep in the middle. I can confirm that this aspect of a two year old's behaviour is spot on. Oh, and now a phone call from Joy! #TheArchers
Harrison has made an arrest!!! More updates to follow after he updates Joy. And thanks her for her tip-off. A bit much, not accepting tea and biscuits though 😆 #TheArchers
In amongst all that satisfying police work, we heard that Daisy has found a scratch card. You don't think, do you, could it possibly be, Jonny's lost winning scratch card? Could that episode get any more exciting #TheArchers
Turns out it was *sooner*. Harrison got the Crimestoppers report on Tuesday and thanks to Joy, Oaty was collared on Thursday. Is this a record? They need to put retired northern grandmas on every unsolved police case, right now. #TheArchers
I'm at a bit of a loose end, come to think of it. Chronicling #TheArchers doesn't take up all my day 😊
And another thing. This week's filler SL is John's old train set, found in the attic by Tony. Now it's a lesson for Henry, on giving back things you've taken that don't belong to you. He should have a long chat with George about that, I think #TheArchers
And another thing. We learn that Bridge Farm has allowed the tea room a rent reduction. Was that @ambridgeolwen's influence? *Listen again* from the beginning here
Hopefully this omnibus will answer the pressing question, is Tony's Flying Scotsman liveried in LNER green, or British Railways green? #thearchers
Emma has been chairing the discussions on the virtual flower and produce show. But enough of this - Emma and Fallon have had a conversation! Ooh, another reference to the Bridge Farm rent reduction. Pat is lovely sometimes. #TheArchers
Adam is late for his meeting with Brian... ominous.. there's been an accident. Ambulance, please. The Landie has rolled on his leg. Off to A&E with him.
Pat has been overruled by Helen ☹️ - the rent reduction is going. Natasha will give advice; great. Adam's broken ankle will keep him off the farm for a while. Two years before you're walking again, at your age, Adam #TheArchers
And another thing. That scratch card Daisy found was a winner but Harrison won't keep it - it must either go back to its owner, or go to a good cause. How are we going to let him know it belongs to Jonny? Hope he reads our tweets #TheArchers
It's getting bad for the lovebirds at Home Farm. Chris is unhappy with Alice. Alice is unhappy with Chris and decides to take action. In the tearooms, Fallon is unhappy with Natasha. She won't tell Emma that they might have to leave Bridge Farm for cheaper premises. #TheArchers
Alice is resigning from the flower and produce committee. Fallon hasn't thought through how practical her livestream idea is. Soufflé wars last year showed that, at least how Emma sees it. Alice still doesn't want to work for Brian, she wants to be on holiday.
Brian wants Alice in Adam's lovely eco office. Probably lots of cupboards in there Alice, you won't need to stash your bottles in the shed. Emma's not run off her feet in the café, too few customers. Natasha's recommendation is to give up the recycling.. and the staff #TheArchers
Emma doesn't know it yet but the luck of the Grundeys is about to stike again. Will it be back to the chicken factory, or set upon your own? Go into partnership with Clarrie, Oliver won't mind you running a catering company from the Grange Farm kitchen. #TheArchers
Just joined this catch-up service? Start from the beginning here
Alice has had a great first day in the Home Farm office. All Brian's jobs done, and Spare Parts Steve is now at the back of the queue. She deserves a drink with her mates.. ah, but Chris is cooking something special tonight. It's Alice on the phone, she's still in the office.
Brian is ready for a stiff drink after work. Chris is waiting for Alice. I have my suspicions about where Alice really is #TheArchers
Today we are getting a treat. Lynda is happy, except Robert is still shielding her. Enough of the treat, we then get Alice, Adam and Chris for balance. Lynda returns to give her thoughts on the Flower and Produce, and Robert overreacting to her odd twinge #TheArchers
Chris has slipped off the wagon. One measly bottle of beer, and he daren't admit it to Alice. Adam is surprised that resting his foot actually stops it hurting. Somehow, like Ian, he has to accept he's not irreplaceable. #TheArchers
This reminds me, at least we haven't heard from Pip during lockdown. Be thankful for small mercies #TheArchers
There's a disaster looming at Home Farm where Alice must put down the voddie and find another tractor driver. Robert has been eased out of the Hide by a combination of social distancing and a new resident. Yes Robert, don't let them push you out of the nest #TheArchers
While Robert bickers with the birders, Lynda has overdone the gardening and done her back in again. A moment's self-pity about not being able to cope with the pain is followed by her determination not to let Robert come back and find her on the floor #TheArchers
Alice complains about Emma's whinging. Pot, meet Kettle, I know you're going to be great friends 😉 #TheArchers
Alice gives Ed the harvesting work, at double time. Nice one, Ed. Brian drops Alice in it; Adam knows now about the mix-up with Josh, & Ed picking up the work. Brian says he mustn't worry; he does, of course. Ed muses on how grounded he and Em are. Redundancy looms? #TheArchers
Adam also worries about childcare. Ian goes back to work soon..will Xander be ok with a childminder? The answer is yes, Adam, & what's more a childminder won't instruct him how to play with a toy farm like you do #TheArchers
*you can't bring a lion onto a sheep farm*. That's why your time in Africa was so beneficial, Adam, knowledge like that #TheArchers The shark can't live in the duckpond either..
Every time we listen in the inner thoughts of an Aldridge, there's something new to hear about dads and their children. With Adam, it somehow seems less interesting than Brian.
Don't be so dim, Adam, you should obviously jobshare with Ed. He'll want a more permanent arrangement when Emma loses her job #TheArchers
I'd better fix this broken thread. It's not the first and won't be the last #thearchers
