China's is an expansionist. The expansionist imperial mentality of China always existed. As on 01 Nov 1949, expanse of China(PRC) was restricted to what is in red colour. As you see India didn't share bdy with China till they usurped Xinjiang in 1949 & Tibet in 1950. 
Within two months of its birth China annexed Xinjiang adding 7 new neighbours in one stroke ie India(A. Chin),Tibet, Pak, Afgn, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan & Mongolia (See map). This opened land connect to CAR & Pak. India lost its consulate at Kashgar & all treaties with Uyghurs.
At the time of invading, the local Uyghurs were told that China has come to develop the area. Instead, a large number of Hans moved in & exploited the vast natural resources of the region. The ambitious BRI proj incl CPEC, wouldn't have been possible if Xinjiang was not occupied.
In 1950, PLA was unleashed on Tibetans, telling them that "Chinese have come to liberate them" In crafty mil & diplomatic maneuvers, China usurped Tibet increasing length of Sino-India borders by almost 1600km to total of 3488 km. Nepal & Bhutan became China's new neighbours.
Communist China is yet to answer simple God fearing Tibetans that from whom have Tibetans been liberated from?
Today the whole world is witnessing strange behaviour wherein China has laid claim to territory in 18 countries!!!
