As a prudent citizen of Pakistan,a veteran of the 71 War and many operations,being someone who headed a national security organization and having active political service as VP PPPP I can say,categorically,that divided as we are we cannot pull Pakistan out of the stormy waters.
Pakistan has suffered extreme divisions at various times on the basis of ethnicity,sectarianism and provincialism.What bothers me most now is the politics of contempt and extreme hatred that has crept into the Pakistani nation over the past few yrs and seems to be on the increase
Am going to say it in plain and understandable language that if we Pakistanis DO NOT get to control the unwarranted politics of disgust,hatred and extreme contempt the future will never be bright. It cannot be.Time to rectify course is NOW.Tomorrow,in my opinion will be too late
I will add here that the 1973 Constitution which was unanimously adopted has been a guarantor of Pakistan’s well being and national integrity. It survived 20 years of Martial Laws to bring Pakistan back on course.Any tinkering with it will be crucial to Pakistan’s integrity.
All this talk about deriding Parliamentary system and the 18th Amendment does not make sense to me.Pakistan can never have another publicly accepted unanimously passed Constitution. A country without a unanimous Constitution is like a ship without a rudder.Let us not become that
