Part 4 of my series on building a second brain 🧠 just went live.

Notes are only as valuable as the network they’re in. Isolated ideas don't do anything—the power comes from linking them.

A thread with the key takeaways. Link to the article in the next tweet.
Want to know how to structure your second brain's food? This is how I do it:

My mantra: automate what you can, standardize what you can't.

@readwiseio is my go-to tool to gather all my highlights and notes in one place, formatted, and ready to be learned from. If it weren't for Readwise, I probably wouldn't bother saving insights from texts.
Save time and remove fiction by using a text expander (like @TextExpander!).

Readwise does not export my highlights and notes to Roam (yet), but with text templates in Roam it's still easy to feed my second brain.
Keep the highlights that inspired your notes close.

I nest highlights under the note that was inspired by them. This way, I always have context, and I can easily click through to the content if I want to dig deeper.
I link keywords in my notes and highlights, and bold the essence.

By marking up my notes, I can quickly skim large amounts, get the gist, and find what I'm looking for without having to remember search terms or reading walls of text.
I use tags extensively.

Tags are still useful in Roam. If a specific term is not on the page but is something I look for regularly, I add it as a tag.
Index pages are information hubs and springboards to other ideas.

Topic pages have a definition and links to related subtopics. My main index page is always in flux and contains links to the I visit often.
