Our daily update is published. Six states (AR/CT/KS/KY/NH/RI) did not report by our publish time today. Based on past numbers, it looks like many more states reduced testing and reporting over the holiday weekend.

42.5K new cases today. 654K new tests. 209 deaths reported.
Weekend dips in testing and reporting are why we use 7-day rolling averages wherever possible. The holiday weekend reporting gap is going to result in much larger numbers later this week.
Four states—Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky, and Rhode Island—haven’t reported new data in two days. Kansas’s percent-positive rate was rapidly rising before the weekend began. covidtracking.com/data/state/kan…
Even though today’s update is missing data from six states, there were more new cases today than in any day of the pandemic before June 25. In better news, more test results were reported today than any day before July 2.
Twenty-one states set new all-time case records in the past week.
Last data point today: Even with the holiday weekend, Florida’s numbers are alarming. The state has reported more than 10,000 new cases three of the last four days. Still no data on current COVID-19 hospitalizations in FL.
