Billions wasted, countless communities terrorized, and an increasingly hostile political landscape no longer interested in doing his bidding...

The case for firing Tom Farrell, CEO of Dominion Energy (A thread) 1/
Across Richmond, monuments to the confederacy are falling, but the people who capitalize on systemic racism need to go too. Time's past due to dump @DominionEnergy CEO Tom Farrell, whose grip on #RVA politics threatens BIPOC & working class communities throughout the Southeast 2/
Tom Farrell, CEO of Dominion Energy, should resign or his board should fire him. Farrell cancelled the Atlantic Coast Pipe way too late, which hurt investors, though not as much as his continued leadership harms our communities. 3/
Farrell is the most powerful non-elected political figure in Virginia. Massive political donor ✅ Board member UVA and charities ✅ Eg: He got his son, Peter Farrell, an “amateur thespian” elected to VA House. BTW, both Tom and Peter are into the confederacy... 4/ https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.washin
Tom and Peter Farrell co-directed a 2014 film called Field of Lost Shoes about confederate soldiers that fought in the Battle of New Market. A historian called the filmed revisionist - it falsely portrayed confederate soldiers as supporting abolition. 5/ Dominion Resources chief Thomas Farrell, far right, and scri
Tom and Peter got VA taxpayer funding for their first-time production. The film premiered in Richmond’s Carpenter Theater in February 2014. The theater is now called the Dominion Energy Center 👀

Recently an actor from Field of Lost shoes was arrested while counter-protesting the removal of the Stonewall Jackson Statue... But I'm sure that was just a coincidence...

Dominion ignored the Black Union Hill residents who opposed a polluting compressor station for the #ACP that They tried to build in their community. Dominion used their influence to steamroll through the permitting process and buy off local officials. virginiamercury.com/2018/08/02/in-…

This 54,000 HP compressor station would have sounded like a jet engine 24 hours a day while spewing pollutants on a community built by freedmen, with the descendants of those freed slaves living less than a mile away. Btw, the land for the project was a on a former plantation 9/
But when the majority-white Ladies of Mount Vernon protested a proposed compressor station in MD, Dominion moved the project with haste. richmond.com/news/plus/will… 10/
Farrell led a developer group that tried to build a vanity project - a big stadium - in downtown Richmond, with no input from the community. The Navy Hill project would have siphoned $$ from underfunded schools and worsened our housing crisis.

This wasn’t Tom Farrell’s only effort to promote a boondoggle vanity project. Back in 2013, Farrell worked with a similar team of developers to build a baseball stadium on top of what was the largest slave trading hub in the US. See a trend? 12/

Farrell also took a hack at ‘reforming’ Richmond Public Schools, hijacking the superintendent search committee and forcing the participants to sign non-disclosure agreements. 13/

Under Farrell’s “leadership”, costs for the canceled #ACP jumped from $4.5B to $8B. That includes $3.4B wasted on the abandoned project that could have gone to renewables & efficiency. All of this while families rack up debt to Dominion during the utility shut off moratorium 14/
Wall Street also gave Farrell’s performance a "thumbs down" 👎🏽 after ACP went belly up. Yesterday, @DominionEnergy’s stock price plunged more than 11%, with at least one major firm downgrading the company. Farrell made $17.3M in compensation from Dominion last year 15/
Farrell now says that Dominion will have an “industry-leading clean-energy profile.” But Farrell’s personal legacy of environmental racism and injustice has poisoned Virginians against Dominion. No one will give them the benefit of the doubt as long as he's CEO. #TomsGottaGo
