Thread on moving season to the spring.

If no #CollegeFootball this fall, there's going to be mass layoffs without all that revenue. Without that revenue, you can't bring back all the infrastructure it takes to house, train, feed, and educate all those players in the spring.
Many programs, even at the power 5 level, live paycheck to paycheck from a cash flow/outlay situation. Meaning they spend what they take in. They're not sitting on massive revenue reserves.
So where would the revenue come from? Would TV networks pay out in advance, when there's still no guarantee of a vaccine ever happening? We've never had one for a coronavirus, and couldn't develop one for the first SARS in 12 years.
Do schools take out loans? Well, what's their collateral with no promise of future revenue? Do they put up their stadiums and other brick and mortar for collateral? Imagine having liens on some of these stadiums.
This isn't a solution as much as a hope that somehow science will conjure up some utopian deliverance from this virus. Pardon the pun, but its a literal Hail Mary Pass. Economically, it's just not feasible. Not to mention the conflict with NFL Draft prep.
South Korea and Taiwan have been playing baseball for months. 22 players are back on the soccer field all over Europe, including Germany and the UK. Pro basketball returned in Germany and Spain (one of nations hardest hit). How are they able to pull this off?
How many of their athletes have died? In my home state of Iowa we've had high school sports for more than a month. No player, coach, or fan/parent has dropped dead so far. Where are all the dead Home Depot and Costco workers, and other "essential" workers?
The rest of the world is managing to live their lives with this pandemic. For whatever reason, the world's lone superpower, and too much of its media, seems to be resisting that.
