THOUGHTS ON THE US WITHDRAWING FROM THE WHO

1/ The WHO has been misleading the world's response (see image below)

(continues below with stuff you probably didn't hear about on the topic)
2/ However (and this is critical) on the question of keeping borders open, they have been *ordered* to say so by all our governments pandemic.substack.com/p/the-2005-dec…
3/ I applaud the decision of the US to withdraw.

If a doctor gives you a wrong diagnosis, and you are still ill, yes you still need a doctor, but you'd better find yourself a more competent one.
4/ That said, withdrawing from the WHO might result in finding or founding an alternative entity, and unless the root problems of point (2) above are solved, the alternative won't be any better.
5/ Hence it's very important to make a post-mortem and a pre-mortem, not only of which wrong decisions were taken during the pandemic, but most importantly WHY.

The problem doesn't lie in the WHO; it lies in the conditions that created, chose, and enabled the cronyism inside.
6/ My hope is that, if we will have a new world organization, its responsibilities won't exceed simply pooling and coordinating on-the-field doctor response.

Ringing alarm bells & advising governments has to be made locally. Only way to get quick responses & no systemic error.
7/ As an appendix to #3, doctors are often necessary but not sufficient conditions for health.

Whatever we will decide our firefighters to be, we must also ensure that we don’t build flammable buildings.
