BREAKING: Texas is reporting it's worst day from COVID-19 since the pandemic began with 98 people dying from the virus just since yesterday and a new record of 9,610 people so sick that they are hospitalized.
The state now has reported 332 deaths just in the last 7 days. That is an average of 47 deaths per day - the highest 7-day death average since the pandemic started in Texas.
New Texas COVID-19 Data
2,258,708 people tested (that is up 37,421 from yesterday)
220,564 positive tests (up 9,979 from yesterday)
2,813 deaths (up 98 people from yesterday)
9,610 lab-confirmed hospitalizations (up 324 from yesterday)
The 7-day averages in Texas
48,109 tests per day
7,500 positive cases per day
47 deaths per day
8,386 hospitalizations per day

Previous 7-days
41,670 tests per day
6,020 positive cases per day
33 deaths per day
5,744 hospitalizations per day
As I reported on Monday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott warned that fatalities could increase.

“My concern is that we may see greater fatalities going forward as we go into the middle part of July.”
The hospitalization numbers have increased dramatically over the last several weeks. The 9,610 in hospitals today is up 39% from last Wednesday and more than double the number of hospitalizations from the previous Wednesday. On Memorial Day, we reported 1,511 hospitalizations.
Texas still has 11,575 available hospital beds and 1,017 available ICU beds, but that is 1,350 fewer beds than reported yesterday and 131 fewer ICU beds since yesterday. Texas does have almost 5,300 available ventilators.
