This might be a good time to make a point about CONSEQUENTIALISM (Utilitarianism) and CANCEL CULTURE I was thinking about earlier.

Cancel Culture has an ESSENTIALLY CONSEQUENTIALIST aspect, namely, it ASSIGNS GUILT based SOLELY on (alleged) harmful consequences.
But—like Consequentialism—it ALSO assigns PERSONAL MORAL RESPONSIBILITY (incoherently) to thinks that were never INTENDED by the agent.

So if W tells a joke in 2011 which offends M in 2020, W has caused “harm” to M, and is GUILTY.
Consequentialism ALWAYS has this in-built possibility of holding you GUILTY for things REGARDLESS of your intent, and also FOR NOT DOING THINGS—and PUNISHING YOU ACCORDINGLY.

Cancel Culture is making these aspects of Consequentialism manifest.

It’s an EVIL doctrine.
