Zong announced to launch 3G and 4G services in GB from May 5 ,2018. After getting license from PTA to provide its services in Gilgit-Baltistan .

SCO moves to GB Chief Court against PTA's decision on April 18, 2018 under section 71 of GB Order 2019, challenging PTA decision of issuing licences to cellular networks for launching 3G and 4G spectrum in the mountainous region

GB Council , PTA and GB government were made respondents in the case and court asked them to submit their responses within a month.

The court issued ad-interim injunction, suspended the operation of the letter issued by the PTA on Feb 23 , 2018 which supposedly allowed network operators to start their services.

5. Sept, 2019. Telenor launches 4g services for an ephemeral period of time , CEO says that they are using alternative satellite services which are on par with optical fibre transmission . The service vanishes..

Fast forward to 2020 , a/c to PakistanToday , officials are still asking the government to release the spectrum immediately for service providers so as to provide 3G and 4G services in AJK and GB but the case is caught in a limbo. 1/2

The monopoly of SCO in a free market world is still unchallenged .
Though Competition Act 2010 ensures free and fair market in whole Paksitan, GB can not benefit from it due to its constitutional status and GB Order 2009. 2/2
