Ustad Yasir is one of the most imp players of the jihadist war theatre in AfPak. Evidence shows that he was the most trusted advisor of OBL & AQ leadership on the AfPak matters. It is imp to explore the character of UY to understand the post-9/11 re-emergence of AQ from AfPak.1/n
In the 1980s, UY was a close aide of Prof. Sayyaf and a top member of his party. He became a strict critique of Sayyaf after 9/11 due to his support for a democratic govt in Afghanistan. He was one of the leading Pashto jihadist ideologues with fierce oratory skills. 2/n
Pak authorities arrested & handed him over to the Afghan government in 2005, but he was released in a prisoners’ exchange in 2007. UY was the father in law of Mullah Akhtar Mansoor – the successor of Mullah Umar - and himself was a central leader of the Afghan Taliban. 3/n
He has played the primary role in establishing & organizing the TTP. His fierce oratory skills helped in massive recruitment for TTP in the Pashtun belt.

AQ assigned him recruitment and propaganda responsibility in AfPak. He was also head of the cultural wing of the Afghan Taliban, having a similar role. As-Sahab Arabic issued a detailed video interview of UY in 2008, which was later on published in Urdu. 5/n 
Pakistani security agencies arrested him again in Dec 2008 from his residence in Peshawar. AQ leadership many times publicly claimed that UY has died in the detention center of a top intelligence agency of Pakistan around 2012. 6/n
