getting invited back to present/host something for a second time is SUCH a good feeling, especially for someone as tied to the yoke of external validation as I am, but it does also mean dealing with the flipside of occasionally not getting invited back 😅
it particularly grates that the latter tends to look like this: big event invites me to host alongside several men, then the next year goes back to the all-male lineup
(or replaces me with another woman, which, fine, I want other women to get work, but I wish there were room for more of us and that maybe one of the men could sacrifice his instead)
anyway, these thoughts brought to you today by the good kind, not only getting invited back but getting invited back by a producer who made a point of telling me what she liked about my work
I’m sure this could be painful in practice, but I’d love for those who don’t invite me back to also explain why – if I can improve, I’d love to know how!
(and if it’s for one of the other reasons I’ve been told I’ve lost out on work, e.g. that I lack sex appeal, that I’m too outspoken about diversity and inclusion, that’s good to know too because then I can stop wasting brain space)
