If I understand this "WE Charity" non-scandal correctly, the @CPC_HQ is miffed that the Liberal govt. awarded the contract to administer the Canada Student Service Grant (CSSG) program as a sole-source contract, without reaching out to other organizations. Instead, they ... 1/n
... wanted the Federal Govt. to issue an RFQ to organizations who might be capable of administering the program. After the organizations responses to the RFQ were received, the Federal Govt. would short-list the best candidates and notify them they were selected for the RFP. 2/n
After the RFP had been written and approved by the Federal Govt., the short-listed organizations would be given the RFP and invited to send responses to the RFP. After evaluation of the RFP responses, the Federal Govt. would select a preferred charity and ... 3/n
... draft a Letter of Intent, to be signed by the Federal Govt. and the selected charity. And then, and only then, could the selected charity begin handing out money to students.

That should have been *easy* to complete by, oh, say, April 2021.

FFS. 🙄
And *because* the Liberal govt. didn't go through the lengthy RFQ/RFP process, there *must* have been some nefarious reasons behind it. Other than getting the money into the hands of students as quickly as possible. 5/n
The Cons see nefarious motives behind everything that the Liberal govt. does is because, like Trump, they project their motives onto other people. The Cons are, at their core, untrustworthy, evil, mean people. See, for example, their complaints about the govt. debt. 6/n
The Cons can't imagine that the Liberal govt. racked up $343B in deficit spending this year to actually *help* Canadians not get evicted from their apartments, lose their homes, their cars, go bankrupt. Their evil little minds see only the debt spending and assume their's a scam.
They see a scam behind the deficit spending because, at their heart, they are scammers. They don't care about you, Joe Canadian and Josette Canadien. They care only about their political careers and being re-elected. They will do anything, say anything to be re-elected. 8/n
* "there's a scam"
Once they decided there were nefarious motives behind the selection of the WE charity, the Cons had to manufacture a *reason* for the selection. Ms. Gregoire Trudeau does a podcast for WE! Of *course* they selected WE, to promote her podcast! (I think. I still don't get it.) 9/n
Oh! But even better! Ms. Sinclair Trudeau was actually *paid* to give a speech to WE! Of *course* the Liberal govt. must reward WE for that, by awarding them the CSSG contract. (I still don't see the logic there - the speech has already been done. But let's go with it.) 10/n
Even worse! Alexandre Trudeau was paid to give a speech to WE too! So how did the negotiations for this speech go?

Sacha: "Pay me for a speech, and when, sometime in the future, there's a pandemic, I'll make sure you get the contract for some program."

WE: "Sounds good, dude."
I just wonder: how many other speeches to charities has Alexandre Trudeau given? Are they all waiting in the wings for their payback, for the next pandemic-induced program for them to manage? Does no one else see the absurdity of this? 12/n

"Raffensperger: Well Mr. President, the challenge that you have is the data you have is wrong."

Ya gotta respect Brad Raffensperger for standing up to Trump. He ain't taking no shit-talk from the Donald.

washingtonpost.com/politics/trump…
"Trump: And Brad, why did they put the votes in three times? You know, they put ‘em in three times.

Raffensperger: Mr. President, they did not put that. We did an audit of that and we proved conclusively that they were not scanned three times."

Trump is your crazy Uncle Donnie.
"Mitchell: ... our estimate is that there were roughly 18,000 ballots. We don’t know that. If you know that …

Trump: It was 18,000 ballots but they used each one three times.

Mitchell: Well, I don’t know about that.

Trump: I do think because we had ours magnified out."

Y’all, read this.

I see two camps develop in the @GOP: one, a brave band of the very few, including Romney, Murkowski and Sasse. The other camp composed of grifters and conmen: Cruz, Rubio, Hawley. The remaining @SenateGOP members are a group of indecisive cowards waiting to ...
... see which way the wind blows.
(There are clearly others in the Hawley/Rubio/Cruz band of traitors, but owing to the 280 character limit of Twitter, I chose only to name the most well-known ringleaders.)

In this year of plague and depression, the most powerful nation in human history has become a sad amalgam of laughingstock, cautionary tale and pariah. Roughly 170,000 Americans are dead, in large part due to a near-total abdication of federal leadership, theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
... a decades-long evisceration of the social safety net, and a health care and economic system built on a bedrock of racial and class discrimination.

What a powerful sentence this is.
“Even by the standards of an administration that has spent the better part of four years alternating between ineptitude and cruelty, it is a truly spectacular failure – a failure so fundamental it will live on as a schism between generations: those who knew life before ... “

Media headlines: “Trump is the third president to be impeached.”

No, Trump is the *second* president to be *legitimately* impeached. The President Clinton impeachment was a farce.

1. The IC, Ken Starr, was appointed in August *1994* to investigate the Whitewater “scandal”. 1/n
2. Starr continued an investigation into Whitewater initially begun by Robert B. Fiske.
3. Responding to right-wing hysteria that the Clintons had one of their aides, Vince Foster, murdered, Starr expanded his investigation into the Foster suicide, continuing Fiske’s work. 2/n
4. Three years later, Brett Kavanaugh (yes, *that* Brett Kavanaugh 🙄) completed a 197 page report concluding that, yes, Mr. Foster had indeed committed suicide, as everyone previously had also concluded.
5. Starr went on to investigate the firing of White House travel personnel.
