Praise for Russia after US soldiers die for Russian bounties.

Peaceful American protesters gassed.

A key ally extorted.

Partisanship is durable as hell.
And as far as "learned his lesson," well, Trump commuted Roger Stone's sentence 100% hours after Stone said:

"He knows I was under enormous pressure to turn on him. It would have eased my situation considerably. But I didn’t.”
And we know, for a fact, that Roger Stone was facilitating communications between Trump and Wikileaks—about documents they all knew the Russian government was stealing to help Donald Trump and hurt Hillary Clinton.

There are no two equal "sides" to this story.
So why the hell does the partisan split endure? All of the things I listed are known facts & are indisputably horrific. Alone, each could compete for the title of "worst thing a president did in US history."

And yet...the congressional party-line split is almost 100% intact.
In a country where our elected representatives loved their country & their countrymen/women more than their political party or power, this would be a no brainer. There would be no party split. Congress would be 100% aligned against these horrors.

But that's not the case.
Just because politicians insist on ignoring these horrors and keeping up the appearance of everything being merely about "two sides/parties" with opposing views doesn't mean the rest of us—media or regular Americans—have to accept that framing.

We can know right. Right matters.
And right doesn't give a damn about the letter after your name, btw. A lot of Mississippi Democrats and Republicans proved that late last month when they came together to finally change our state flag and take down a symbol of pain and hate. Because it was right.
