1/15 THE 4 PRINCIPLES OF ADULT LEARNING APPLIED TO [[USING @ROAMRESEARCH FOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT]]

This is me working with the garage door open. This thread is on training strategy.

Here is a preview of Module 1, WIP.
2/ Here are the 4 principles of adult learning (andragogy):

🔹adult learners need to be involved in the planning and evaluation of instruction;

🔹experience, including mistakes, provide the basis for the learning activities;
3/ cont.

🔹adult learners are most interested in learning courses that have immediate relevance and impact on their job or personal life;

🔹learning is problem-centered rather than content-oriented
4/ I'll involve the participants by sending drafts of the modules as they are made. Sign-up if you want your training medium-rare. (This training is on one system on the bottom-right sextant of the idea-to-reality production stack, [[Classical PM]].)
5/ I view my role as an "orchestrator of learning experiences." The group work I think is key to the learning experience. On top of this, I think trainings like this are great opportunities to **fabricate serendipity** among the participants.
6/ One reason I prefer paid courses to free ones (even way back in the face-to-face days) is because I know the people I'll meet there are as serious as me about the topic. Add the additional filter of Roam users. I'm most excited about the serendipities this will bring.
7/ I've validated this idea. Back in May, I did a little experiment with my then #roamcult Twitter followers called [[Fabricating Serendipity]]. Here's the pitch: roamresearch.com/#/app/fabricat…
8/ It is part of my job to validate ideas (lower-middle sextant of the idea-to-reality production stack). Most reactions are meh. This one though had a pretty good reception. I myself want more of it. So I'll make [[Fabricating Serendipity]] a feature in the training.
9/ It will be similar to how [[@CompliceGoals]] conducts their Goal Crafting Intensives, except it will be with working groups of 3-5. You should join the next CGI. Follow Complice and [[@Malcolm_Ocean]] to get alerted when it happens.
10/ One frustration I had with the first time I ran this training online last month was that I was limited to showing examples. Back when I did this IRL, most of the training was the participants applying the PM tools to THEIR projects. Small working groups might be the solution.
11/ Here's one exercise I learned from [[@jonathanalevi]]'s Superlearner course back in 2017 that I have been reapplying to my trainings. Prime your absorption of material by connecting it to your purpose.
12/ For years, this training has been tool-centric vs concept-centric. See my tool-centric remapping of the granddaddy of PM concept maps, Table 1-1 of the PMBOK 6th edition: plectica.com/maps/IG6KRQL07
13/ 🔹learning is problem-centered rather than content-oriented

These PM tools are essentially solutions to problems that project managers are hired to solve:
