Does Dan genuinely believe I hate my uncle the electrician or my cousins working in all kinds of trades? They are financially better off than me. And they are white working class workers.

I went to Cambridge and work as a journalist so I am the ‘elite’. Only I earn less money and my views are seen as less worthwhile by people like Dan who fetishise white workers.

How many electricians are there in his family?

His mother is a former MP and actress of incredible ability. She is famous with good reason. His father was a theatre director and art dealer.

My parents were in the Royal Navy then became traveling sales reps for medical companies. But Dan knows more about the working classes.

Columnists like Dan Hodges and Brendan O'Neill will often act as though people like me as enemies of the working classes.

It's the same tactic as draft-dodging coward fuck George Bush Jnr. and haunted bin bag Karl Rove used against John Kerry through Swift Boating.

Kerry went to Vietnam. He served with distinction. And yet it was possible for the NeoCons to turn him into someone who hated America.

Same with Ralph Miliband and the Daily Mail deciding, in highly antisemitic terms, that he 'hated' Britain.

For people like Dan Hodges to think that he knows more about the working classes than people who come from that background is gaslighting. It's a tactic. And I hate him for it.

I've received a few messages to say that I shouldn't say I "hate" Dan Hodges, as that's a strong word.

I've also been told that I can't say I believe in liberation theology if I talk about 'hate'.

Didn't I stutter? I hate what he does. I hate the way he acts. I hate his job.
