Nationalism can appear anywhere left- or right-. It basically means national patriot. Ghandi, Lennon, Mussolini, Mendala, Mao, Stalin, and countless other country leaders and patriots. The equivalent regional term w/ rival teams is booster or superfan.
2/ 'Nationalism' has been hijacked to sound like Super Boogeyman awful. People should love their country, state, county, city, village, town, local teams and all therein w/ the spirit of those striving for bigger, better, faster, and improvement in all things. Team Spirit.
3/ the misleading disconnect of nationalism is the ideologal supremacy held by those that have no regard for their neighbor. They do not love, cherish, and value their neighbor. As a result, they will lie, steal, cheat, covet, and kill their neighbor. Golden rule does not apply.
4/ a supremacist has the notion that his favored group is superior than the defective others not in the group. Those people, to the supremacist, are sub-human and therefore disposable. Supremacy can not tolerate (a.k.a. a bigot) a non-favored member on equal platform w/ favored.
5/ because the supremacist can not tolerate the improvement, health, and well-being of the un-favored group members, they often talk and devise ways to eliminate the undesirable defective others. Check history for all groups Hitler killed. The 6M Jews was only about half targeted
6/ what many do not realize is that supremacy is a leftist trait. Earliest etymologies of 'right' means straight, good, strong, true, righteous. Properties of the Golden Rule. Etymologies of 'left' is crooked, bent, weak, diseased. Basically mirror opposite of right. Anti-right.
7/ Rightward people look out for neighbor, protects neighbor, assists neighbor and will not lie, steal, cheat, covet, nor kill neighbor. Neighbors have personal value. The leftward person is self-centered and self-righteous becoming arrogant. Thru arrogance .. supremacist.
8/ before the USA (July 4th, 1776) the world's govts were all leftist of some degree. Whatever the king, queen, emperor, ruler said was the law. One set of laws for the favored party of ruler another set of rules for the peasants. A conquered group gets rules of victors. Leftist.
9/ USA begins. Places individual value on each and every person. People elect their leaders. Wars do not choose govt and laws. A country OF, FOR, & BY the people. For the first time in world history a true Rightward country that holds their citizens as precious jewels. No elites.

12/ back to "nationalism". A nationalist that kills scores of its own people in the country (and by default OTHERS outside the country) are all SUPREMACISTS that desire to rid the world of the dirty virus (other people) NOT IN THEIR FAVORED GROUP they wish to preserve.
13/ the nationalist that kills scores of its own citizens are not only supremacist, but fascist. Fascism is another term that's been given a different misaligned meaning over the years. The equivalent modern term is 'bully'. The forced control of others. Always LEFTIST. 
14/ why is FASCISM always LEFTIST? Simply put, if you are guided by Golden Rule principles, you never forcefully control your neighbors. You hold neighbors with love & respect, you assist, you protect, you value your neighbor as yourself. Fascism does not exist rightwardly.

19/ leftists will NEVER urge you to do your own research to find out something on your own. They will suggest you ONLY check their approved (supremacist approved) sources filled with a bias. Often void of factual evidence and measured conclusions. Emotionally charged to frenzy.

21/ I also suspect that if this Left-right-o-scope was used on people in public, there are probably many that consider themselves as LEFTIST are probably truly moderate or even slightly more Rightward. Where they land in the L-R scale depends on how valuable others are held.
22/ I also believe those that speak as they are RIGHT-WING, if they believe others are beneath themselves, then they are wolves masquerading as sheep and are only Rightward in name only for the sake of outward appearance. A closet leftist. They talk a good game. Actions contrary.
