Maybe if the Right stopped warring against public education and teachers and started treating it like a vital institution essential to the health, wellbeing, and safety of children instead of a necessary evil to restart the economy and actually funded it we could get somewhere.
Because we should reopen schools. For the sake of children. But we should inject the system with support necessary to do it safely and spur innovation. And we should treat it with respect instead of a place to drop kids off on the way to get infected at work.
Instead we just get incompetent bullies like Trump and DeVos, both of them obsessed with destroying education, just screaming to send kids back to school and offering zero plans for safety. It’s complicated and nuanced. Just doing it will be a disaster.
