Today they call it "cancel culture".
Whatever name they give it, they hate the notion of universal respect.

2. Calling for other people to be respected
By deliberately blurring this line, some commentators seek to defend their privilege against cultural change.

For example, "cancel culture" has been used to describe the reaction to David Starkey's racism. It has become a boo-term used to defend racism, misogyny, homophobia and transphobia, just as "political correctness", "virtue signalling" and "do-gooding" were used.
I don't want anyone to interpret my first tweet as defending the hounding of people who disagree while still respecting the humanity of others.
