"This report is best used to get a full picture of the movements of a device through a given time period"

UberMedia, a location data broker who claims to have 6.5 years of historical data on 800 million mobile devices, is selling very specific data access

So, you can send UberMedia a list of device IDs referring to persons and they return a 'device history report' on the past movements of those persons.

You can also ask them about the device IDs observed at a certain place, and about where those people went before and afterwards.
How do they obtain location data?

From 62 mobile apps that embed UberMedia's data harvesting software, 400 apps that embed data harvesting software operated by other firms, and from 100,000 apps that constantly leak location data while displaying ads.

To avoid missing user movements they also "leverage the device’s accelerometer to make a determination of when the device has moved to trigger location data collection".
UberMedia claims to run a 'fully anonymized mobile location intelligence platform' (ubermedia.com/blog/ubermedia…).

This is not true.

They gather, analyze and sell location data linked to pseudonymous personal identifiers that refer to specific individuals:

This is a mass surveillance system.

UberMedia monitors+follows people on behalf of advertisers and businesses in travel, real estate, retail.

They also sell to 'federal, state, and local governments'.

Here they tried to identify homeless people in LA:

Some UberMedia employees might believe that 'geo-fencing' the most vulnerable based on smartphone data without their knowledge is just doing good. Because mass monitoring the whole population at individual level is just normal for them.

It's not. It's so FAR beyond acceptable.
Another sales pitch, identifying a 'device' as a 'tourist or not a tourist' based on where people live and work, and based on how many miles they travel in certain time periods.

Others may be interested in people with 'unknown resident and worker status'.

They do not only use GPS coordinates to track and profile people. Information about the source app can also help:

"Usage of some apps that UberMedia has access to can provide strong signals. For example: a pregnancy tracker app used by a pregnant woman"
