BERMAN said he was particularly alarmed by Barr's plan to install an outsider to run SDNY when that hadn't happened in at least 70 years. That would have caused disruption and delay, he said.
Steve CASTOR, who led questioning for Republicans during the House Intel impeachment inquiry, led the GOP questioning of Berman.
Under repeated questioning from Castor, BERMAN repeatedly declines to answer whether he has concerns about Barr's integrity.
Leading the questioning for the Dems: Sarah ISTEL, who was one of the coauthors of the Judiciary Committee's impeachment report.

CASTOR also offered a theory that Barr's false statement about Berman's resignation was just a common employer tactic to ensure an "amicable" separation.

"I disagree with that characterization," Berman replied.
Committee Republicans emphasize this theory in a 15-page set of takeaways from the Berman transcript: Barr just wanted Berman to leave amicably.

In a filing, House counsel Doug Letter urged the court to shorten the typical timeframe for its rulings to take effect. An "immediate issuance" of judgment would allow the House to quickly revive the issue in the lower courts.

NEW: Geoff BERMAN told Congress today that BARR repeatedly pushed him to resign — starting with a June 18 meeting at a NY hotel and ending with a phone call that night.

He refused and Barr announced his resignation anyway

According to Berman, Barr repeatedly tried to coax him to take other jobs, like running DOJ's civil division or even becoming SEC chairman.

He insisted the main reason was to get current SEC chairman into the prosecutor's job at SDNY.
Berman provided meticulous detail abotu his interactions with Barr, from the precise minutes of phone calls to the description of their June 18 hotel meeting.
