From studying Quran, it is understood that everyone who has this divine position must have the following attributes:
1. Infallibility
2. Patience
3. Certainty
4. Divine Position
5. Guidance
6. Mediating the Allah's Grace
Due to the verse
Imam must stay away from any oppression
(against Allah, himself and to others).
(Al-Baqarah:124)
When the Imam has the position of Imamat, he must have the position of patience too(absolute patience, which includes patience to all kinds of trials and tribulations);
"...so long as they persevered with patience and continued to have faith in Our Signs."
Which follows the previous verse.
Or about Prophet Ibrahim - before reaching the position of Imamate - we read:
"We show Abraham the power and the laws of the heavens and the earth, that he might have certitude.
Al-An'am:75
Due to verses such as:
"I am making you the Imam of mankind."
"to make them leaders(Imams)"
"And We appointed, from among them, leaders"
And like these verses...
(Al-Sajda: 24) (Al-Qesas: 41) (Al-Qesas: 5) (Al-Anbia: 73) (Al-Baqarah: 124)
Right Imam's work is to guide and lead the society towards the divine goals and ideals and welfare, who is commanded by the Allah [through 'Alam Amr].
(Al-Anbia: 73)
Imam mediates divine grace in matters such as: doing good deeds, performing prayers, paying Zakat and worshiping;
