Let's talk about how ridiculous all of the panicking over reopening schools is. First of all, the COVID mortality rate for children is miniscule. Anyone who says that sending our kids to school is a "death sentence" or whatever nonsense is a lying disgusting hack. 
Via Business Insider, the flu death rate among children is substantially higher. If you've never claimed that sending our kids to school during flu season is a death sentence, but doing it now is, then again you are a lying disgusting hack.
What about teachers? Well again the COVID death rate is very low until you get to the 50+ age bracket. It skyrockets at 65+, and that's mostly because of the nursing home demographic.
The average age of teachers in America is 42. A minority are in the high risk age group. 70 year old teachers probably shouldn't come to work. Retirement may be in order. But the vast majority of the people who attend or work in our schools are not at a significant risk.
What is the other option? To keep schools closed potentially for years? The people advocating that are the same ones who would say that the school experience is vital to the healthy growth of children. So are we going to give up on a whole generation of kids because we're scared?
