For all that I am as convinced as I can be that on balance masks help, I am also convinced this tweet on balance does not help
for a start it labels some age groups who, while prominent in transmission probably should be communicated with in a less finger jabbing way
and then suggests mask wearing for 4-6 weeks would be enough. That is simply false. We know that because of the experience of the shutdowns that show more intense restrictions take time to work
And then the suggestion masks are a panacea. No they are not. Data suggest that masks are helpful. But not so helpful you can then ignore the pandemic. They help but don't solve everything
