TWO new samples have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last
24 hours. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jamaica is now 765. The new cases are imported, having arrived recently on flights from the USA.
They are 2 males; one 24 years old and the other is 40.
In the last 24 hours, 28 more patients have recovered from COVID- 19, and have been released from isolation, bringing the total number of recoveries to 675. (88.2% Recovery Rate).
24 (3.1%) patients were repatriated to their countries of origin.
There are now 56 (7.3%) active cases currently under observation.
There are NO critically ill or moderately ill patients at this time.
The 765 cases are classified as:
• 247 imported cases
• 238 cases that are contacts of confirmed cases
• 44 local transmission cases not epidemiologically linked
• 236 related to the workplace cluster in St. Catherine
Of note: Five (5) cases have been classified as Local Transmission – not epidemiologically linked and (2) cases as contacts of a confirmed case
Some 429 (56%) of all confirmed cases are females and there are
336 (44%) males.
The ages of all confirmed cases range from 2 months to 87 years.
So far, 29,443 samples have been tested with 28,618 negative; and
60 pending.
In the last 24 hours, 484 new samples were tested.
There are 56 patients in isolation.
THREE persons of interest are in quarantine at government facilities, while 17,776 are in home quarantine.
