1/Some of the responses to this thread speak to the utter denial we're at re how we will educate/babysit kids this fall.

2/ We need to prioritize kids who are most vulnerable/food insecure; have single parents; have essential worker parents; need special ed or other support; are at the ages where remote learning is ~impossible and language acquisition is most key.
3/ Districts need to get creative about space. Outdoor learning. Partnering with churches etc for extra space.
There's no one-size solution.

4/ The inequities in education and childcare are going to be so so so so much worse. The burden on families with younger kids so so so much worse than older kids, who may not learn shit, but at least can attend to themselves.

5/ Betsy DeVos wants all this to end in nothing but private/religious charters*. There will be no leadership from DOE, because a pandemic speeds her goals.

6/ This has and will fall overwhelmingly on women. Women who make up the vast majority of teachers. Women who often are single moms. Women who even if they have partners, even at equivalent jobs, do more housework and childcare.
