Good morning everyone ,thank you for this opportunity that yoi have given me today ,to talk about mining as a career,and how important it is to have a person who is qualified to run your mining operations.
Proper mining involves a lot of procedures which have to be followed ,

2.for you to realise profits,from development to production.FOr a mining company (individual )to be able to achieve this you need to have people who are competent to do this,depending on the size of yo operation the number of competent pple wil vary,u will need a blasting licnce.

If you do not have a blasting licence,as the owner of the claim ,you need to appoint someone who has it.(this is a legal appointment)Mine Management and safetyregs).The competent person who is a blasting licence holder wil be responsible fo all the blasting operations takng place

4.Having a mining qualification from the Zimbabwe School of Mines or UZ or any other tertiary institution does not make you a qalified miner.After yoi have obtained your degree or diploma,you will have to go through a learnership,at a recognised mine .and fulfil the number,

Of shifts required by the regulations,to be able to do the mine blasting licence.THe mine blasting licence is an oral exam that is conducted by the Inspector of Mines for that particular region where the mine u work for is situated.AFter passing the mine you get wat is called ,

a mine blasting licence,this licence is endorsed for use at that specific mine where you are working e.g if its for Sabi Gold mine u can only use it there ,if u get another job it has to be endorsed for the new mine.
YOu can then be appointed as a gang leader( 4-7).

During your learnership the Mine has to make sure that they register you with the National Employment Council for the mining Industry (very important).After you get your mine blasting licence u then proceed to do the full blasting licence.This allows u to blast anywhere in Zim,

Now with your full blasting licence ,which is also an oral exam,the examiners consists of a panel of mine managers,inspector of mines and other stakeholders chosen by the ministry who will be asking you questions,prior to facing the board you go thru the preliminaries.that

that will dertemine whether u can go for the board or not ,the exams are done twice a year.
After acquiring the full blasting licence and you have completed your learnership you now receive your certificate of learnership with your learnership number.and your appointment as an ,

Overseer miner hardrock miner as in my case.THis will differ on which mine u were working at e.g coal mines have different requirements and surface mines as well.

Very important,you can become an overseer miner without any tertiary qualifications as long as you hav required ,

Experience,your mine manager can recommend u and u can do the mine,full blasting licence .As long as you have completed the required shifts and your manager has signed your application as proof that you indeed have enough experience ,you can become an overseer miner.
