For literally no good reason, I’ve been doing some research into Donald Duck’s family tree. Specifically, why we have no clue as to the identity of Huey, Dewey and Louie’s father, despite knowing that their mother is Donald’s twin sister Della. THREAD! 1/8 
Della first appears in her son’s debut comic strip in 1937. She then pops up occasionally throughout the years, but in a 2014 story, we learn that the reason she left the triplets with her brother is that she was about to embark on a dangerous space mission. 2/8
In earlier strips, Donald is referred to as Scrooge McDuck’s closest living relative, and in a 1993 story Huey, Dewey and Louie refer to themselves as orphans – suggesting that their mother died on that mission. Or so they thought… 3/8
However, Della reappears in a 2017 episode of Duck Tales, sporting a prosthetic leg, whereupon we learn that she was only presumed dead when her spacecraft crashed on the moon. This doesn’t explain what happened to the father, though… 4/8
Della must’ve been desperate for childcare to leave her sons with a terrible role-model like her foul-mouthed, sociopathic, brother, who has such rage control issues that he can’t even string a coherent sentence together. So what *did* happen to the boys’ father?! 5/8
For the answer, we must turn to that 1937 debut, where it is explained that the boys were left with Donald after a prank upon their father backfired with tragic consequences; he was hospitalised after they set off a firecracker beneath his chair. 6/8
Pulling all the pieces of the puzzle together, we can draw but one conclusion. Though it is not spelled out explicitly, we can only assume that Huey, Dewey and Louie were responsible for the death of their own father. 7/8
Maybe the prank caused a heart-attack, or gave him severe burns from which he later succumbed. Yes, there’s a joke in there about crispy roast duck. But maybe think about this next time you’re enjoying the light-hearted adventures of Donald Duck’s whimsical nephews. 8/8
