#UnitedShades with @wkamaubell on CNN in Pittsburgh was powerful! Thank you to @DamonYoungVSB @SummerForPA @WasiMohamed412 @jasiri_x & @1hood for shining light on Pgh. It was amazing to see yall on national tv talking about the work being and needing done. I’m proud to know yall.
Now, what I’m very curious about is how State and local governmental leadership feel about that episode of #UnitedShades. Pittsburgh is always on some list, this episode showed list we shouldn’t want to be on. It highlighted some issues that we’ve dealt with here HISTORICALLY.
Some should be embarrassed after that side by side was shown of “Pro Gun Rallies” and Antwon Rose Protest. Everyone was holding “Pittsburgh Stronger Than Hate” signs up. Wow. How? Environmental Justice still doesn’t get the attention it truly NEEDS/ deserves here either.
I’d love to see a Part 2 or follow up that highlights the historical job discrimination that was experienced by Black people in PGH since the early 1900’s. The redlining and eminent domain that demolished a thriving Black community in the same exact place where the first...
Federal Housing Projects in the United States were built... Then fast forward to today and highlight how one of “Medicial Capitials of the World” or however you wanna say also has one of the highest maternal mortality rates for Black Women in the country.
Can’t forget to mention fact that the Fraternal order of police was founded right here in Pittsburgh. All while there is STILL A PLAQUE AT POINT STATE PARK IN PITTSBURGH THAT COMMEMORATES “ANGLO SAXON SUPREMACY” IN THE UNITED STATES.
