As India is trying hard to reach its full economic potential, one can see sudden rise in hitjob by Environmental NGOs who are trying to create SaveAarey and TribalLivesMatter like Campaigns.

We haven't bought or built a single nuclear reactor from then btw due to lack of funds and Infrastructure for that. Bt will environmentalist support Nuclear reactors? They will oppose everything & public will also blindly support them. Then how will we meet energy demands?

Secondly Nuclear power and other means are very much costly than Coal. Our economy is not strong enough to afford it. Govt will have to invest a huge amt for Nuclear Power or Hydroelectric Power. It will also increase Power cost for consumers. Are we ready for that?

We can't suddenly get away with anything. But I agree we should move towards Nuclear energy in future. Looking at India's economic position, Population etc, we can keep a target of 2050 for becoming a carbon neutral country. We can't suddenly shut down all coal mines.
