THESE ARE NOT LESS ACCURATE. THEY ARE LESS SENSITIVE. these are different issues. We need to shoot for cheaper tests even if less sensitive. But not less accurate at the time of transmission - when needed most.

Let’s keep the messaging accurate, please.
I worry that the headline is causing confusion. Many people are saying that they don’t want to take a test they cannot trust.

These tests are very accurate during the window when knowing transmission potential is most important (when viral load is high enough to transmit)
And they will / should have very few false positives still - like any of the tests.
Accuracy depends on the target you’re aiming at

I argue that the target should be detecting transmissible cases

These tests are sufficiently sensitive to do that - and thus very accurate for that target. If the target is to detect post-infxn residual RNA - they lose accuracy.
