This piece of ChiCom propaganda brought to you by Yi Rao, a scientist who is/was on the US visa blacklist, renounced his US citizenship over his “moral obligation to China” and bullied colleagues for suggesting Taiwan wasn’t a part of China.

Why would you do this, @nytopinion?

Seriously @nytimes/@nytopinion, what possible reason is there to have run this?

I get having a wide aperture of acceptable topics - hell, I wasn’t upset when you ran Putin - but to give voice to a country actively spreading disinformation that’s costing lives? Really?
And all of this was possible from giving this guy a cursory google search, so it obviously wasn’t some kind of honest mistake.
Amazing that an op-ed from @SenTomCotton, a sitting US senator, voicing an opinion supported by the majority of Americans, can lead to jobs lost, yet this piece won’t draw so much as a murmur.
@nytimes still hasn’t addressed why they gave voice to this propaganda yesterday.

At this point after the @SenTomCotton op-ed, they’d already issued an apology for running it.
