Travel Insurance (THREAD) @FCOtravel advise NOT to travel to Portugal. Our flight with @Ryanair is on Saturday 25/7 - so we won't be going, and claiming on our insurance - which we can. RyanAir still running the flight despite the FCO advising everyone - NOT TO TRAVEL
It's because of this advice, that we can can claim. Had we bought insurance at a date later than March 16th - tough luck. Anyway.. here's the rub. If we were to travel - our insurance would have been invalid - because?? There's a @FCOtravel advisory NOT to travel to Portugal.
I spoke to my insurers, and they told me people are buying cheap holidays to places like #Dubai, then can't get insurance because of the, sorry to repeat myself, the @FCOtravel NOT TO TRAVEL TO .. (insert name of country)
Dubai in this instance - here it is below!!
Quote my insurers "You won't be able to buy travel insurance to a country where there is an @FCOtravel NOT to travel. Remember what I've just said here..

You CANNOT get travel insurance to a country if there is an FCO travel advisory NOT TO TRAVEL
And remember also, your current insurance WILL NOT be valid if you travel to a country under an FCO travel restriction.. or ‘all but essential’ international travel' as they put it - blimey Spain's on the list - so even if you bought insurance last year - NOT VALID
Hang on a minute, I'm sure @Ryanair are trying to sell me insurance for my Portugal trip, on the Buy this, buy that page , along with hire cars, parking etc.. LOL Opel have got a car called ADAM.. FFS - yes can you see it?? The insurance link??
Here it is. Get @Ryanair insurance for my trip. So, they must have some special insurance that is valid in countries with @FCOtravel restrictions. Surely, they wouldn't fly their planes and passengers knowing that no-one on the plane has travel insurance?? Better check tho, eh?
Yes, here it is.. links at the bottom.. I'll check now
So Insurance Policy document and Poilcy Terms take me to the same page... here it is.. TRIP TRAVEL STANDALONE seems like a good place to go - let's try that.
Here we are.. what's NOT covered? Standard stuff, but importantly it looks good. FCO Travel advice NOT on there.. all good to go. Well done @Ryanair - looking after your customers.. that said, I best check the policy wording - seems jargonisitic 'policy wording; - but I'll check
Here it is.. policy wording. Thirty Four pages of it. Yes 34 - good job there's a search function.. let's try GOVE - not *sniff* Michael Gove.. but short for Government.. Wow.. look.. unlucky for some 13 results..
Hang on. What;s this on page 22?? Can you see it??

So.. @Ryanair is selling travel insurance to @FCOtravel advisory countries which the #FCO deem unsafe to travel to, and are advising you NOT to travel to - which invalidates your insurance. Sort these charlatans out @DominicRaab @AntoniaEmilyW @SimonCalder @JT_Travels
