#SussexSquad we have often said that the change in press coverage of The Sussexes happened after the announcement of M's pregnancy/the successful Oceania tour. I have put together a loose timeline of press coverage to further illustrate this point:
November 2016: Harry to marry into gangster royalty? New love ‘from crime-ridden neighbourhood’
November 2016: Harry’s Girl on Pornhub
November 2016: “Harry's girl is (almost) straight outta Compton”
November 2016: the Windsors will thicken their watery, thin blue blood and Spencer pale skin and ginger hair with some rich and exotic DNA.
November 2017: “How in 150 years, Meghan Markle's family went from cotton slaves to royalty”
December 2017: “Yes, they’re joyfully in love. So why do I have a niggling worry about his engagement picture?”
December 2017: “I feel your pain Meghan, writes SARAH VINE: I've had my own wobbly royal curtsey catastrophe”
May 2018: New Channel 4 documentary claims Meghan Markle is related to America's first serial killer HH Holmes
June 2018: During one of her first royal events, Meghan is dragged for wearing an off the shoulder dress.
June 2018: Meghan has the Audacity to Cross her Legs
October 2018: Meghan’s Wedding Bouquet was Harmful for Princess Charlotte
October 2018: 'Hands in pockets is a step too far'
October 2018: Meghan “broke protocol” by wearing wedges, something her white SIL has been praised numerous times for doing.
November 2018: “Meghan cookbook mosque linked to 19 terror suspects including 'Jihadi John' in group's investigation”
Nov/Dec 2018: Meghan is repeatedly described as a ‘Dictatorial’ bride despite asking for the same things as her white SIL
December 2018: Royal SHOCK! Meghan Markle BREAKS Royal protocol AGAIN with ‘VULGAR’ fashion move
January 2019:How Meghan's favourite avocado snack - beloved of all millennials - is fuelling human rights abuses, drought and murder
January 2019: “Bumpate”
February 2019: Meghan Markle snorts cocaine and gropes her own boobs in wild unreleased movie
April 2019: “Meghan Markle baby: How Meghan’s American nanny could BREAK royal tradition”
May 2019: Danny Baker post Tweet with Archie replaced by a Chimpanzee.
June/July 2019: Sarah Vine cannot decide whether fashion sense is good in a duchess. She slams M while praising Kate literally a month apart.
July 2019: Meghan is blasted for editing an edition of British Vogue despite multiple members of the BRF doing the same thing.
July 2019: What Do You Think About Meghan Markle's "Faux Pas" At The Lion King Premiere?
August 2019: Giles Coren declares that H&M had booked a meeting with a marriage guidance counselor, but had got Jane Goodall instead.
September 2019: BBC apologises to Prince Harry over ‘race traitor’ image
November 2019: Harry and Meghan are Slammed for not spending Xmas with the Queen, while the Cambridges were praised for doing the same thing.
This is in no way a comprehensive list, to compile one would go way beyond my capabilities. What I hope to show is that during/after the Oceania tour the press coverage took a turn and did not stop until H&M left.
It's hard to believe this could happen without some kind of external direction. It has long been my belief that the rest of the BRF watched with horror and jealousy at the photos/videos of the Oceania tour and a plan was hastily thrown together.
It's clear that the press was racist before October of 2018... it's also clear that something changed after the tour.
There were flurries of activity around the announcement of them dating, then the engagement, then the wedding.

"...I was no more than 5% funded by the taxpayer while I was a working Royal in the UK, yet ift felt as though the tabloid press thought they owned me absolutely."
I have noticed this sense of ownership being much stronger with the BRF then any of the other European Monarchies
"There also seems to be a real blurring of the lines in terms of what is in the public interest and what is of interest to the public"
It's really not hard to understand: 1. Prince Harry had been unhappy in his role for a long time. He watched the royal family and the media chase his mother to her death 2. Prince Harry felt he had no way out, and for a long time was the only spare.
3. The heir married and had children, making Harry now the 6th in line. 4. Harry met a wonderful woman, fell in love, got married. 5. Together with his wife, the two became "too popular" -- they outgrew their institutional bounds
6. The family punished them by colluding with the media, who were already having a field day since Harry's wife is age appropriate, not white, and not a british aristo. 7. The family did not protect them from vicious smears because they are not heirs
