At the early part of the pandemic, I posted a link to a paper by epidemiologists at Imperial College London. That paper projected that, if significant steps were not taking to tamp down the spread of the coronavirus, there could be hundreds of thousands of deaths in the US.
In fairly short order, the right wing promoted counter-predictions by John Ioannidis to the effect that the cost to the economy of a lock down was far in excess of the danger that the coronavirus posed.
His analysis was, of course, warmly embraced by the likes of Fox News and the Trump Administration. We now know that his analysis was wrong.
