If you need any further evidence that Trump supporters are either fools or liars or both, simply follow their comments on Twitter today concerning the transfer of the Qanon Shaman to a halfway house. They are claiming that he has been released, 14 months early, just weeks after @TuckerCarlson aired exculpatory January 6th video that his defense attorneys claim they never saw.

I suspect that most people who read my posts believe that my characterization of the Republican Party as fascist is overwrought. And I know that my posts of source material, such as judicial opinions, is largely ignored.

However, I persist. Here's a link to today's opinion by the NC S,Ct. holding that the NC voter ID law was nconstitutional. The court's opinion is about 58 pages. It details the efforts of the NC GOP to undermine the ability of the Black community in that state to wield electoral power.

Judge Carter of the U.S.D.C. for the Central District of Cal., S.D., issued a ruling on John Eastman's claims of privilege as to various documents. You can read the entire opinion. However, the significant takeaway for the larger issue of Trump's criminality is found on pages 16-17. There, the Court shows how, even after being warned by his lawyer,

I recently finished reading Blood and Ruins a masterful history of World War II by Richard Overy. The book is not merely a military history of the war’s battles. It also details the economic and social history of the war. In the subchapter “Not Such a ‘Good War,’ he relates the responses of the British and US governments to the needs of Jews attempting to escape from the Nazis.

If you don't believe that Rand Paul is a liar and a nut, consider this: Today, he is attacking Anthony Fauci for covering up the origins of Covid, contending that it developed out of research in China funded by the US that Fauci had approved. However, this peer-reviewed paper in Science concluded that: "[O]ur analyses indicate that the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 occurred via the live wildlife trade in China, and show that the Huanan market was the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic." science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Peter Genz retired as partner at King & Spaulding. He gave a presentation on "Reflections on How to Succeed in Mondern Day Tax Practice." I believe that the presentation is of value not only to lawyers who don't intend to go into tax practice, but those who intend to go into any practice area.

One of the reasons I think that any newspaper report of any judicial action should have a link to the judicial opinion is that the opinion is often much more informative than the reporter's narrative. A case in point is the preliminary injunction issued against the enforcement of Alabama's law prohibiting the treatment of juveniles who are transgender. I have posted the opinion here: slnews.us/pbgl051522a

Tonight's installment of the continuing series "Ravages of Old Age." One of the simple joys I have is laying on the hammock on my front porch and reading. Baltimore being Baltimore, there are actually relatively few days when the weather will permit me to indulge. Tonight was one of those nights.

Disaster struck.

This article sets forth in great detail the multifaceted issue of whether the Wuhan Institute was, directly or indirectly, responsible for the initial spread of the Covid virus. In fact, there are several possible avenues that this may have occurred. First, a researcher may have entered into the bat caves without proper protection, caught the virus, and then spread it.
Second, the Institute itself, while researching the virus, may have not undertaken appropriate safety measures.

If you had not heretofore concluded that Tom Cotton was batshit crazy, this should clinch the argument. In a letter to Pres. Biden, he claimed: ""[The Chinese Communist Party ('CCP')] also considers DNA collection a vital intelligence-gathering objective. . . . .

The lawsuit challenging Houston Methodist Hospital's order that all employees be vaccinated against Covid-19 has been thrown out. I have posted the opinion here: slnews.us/pbgl061321a One passage in that opinion is worthy of note. Some people have contended that a requirement that people be vaccinated is somehow unconstitutional. The Court (a Reagan appointee) made short work of that argument.

Lindsey Graham sent a letter to Schumer requesting that the impeachment proceedings be dismissed. Now the letter contained the usual Graham bullshit (e.g., saying "Those who were complicit in this attack will be held accountable" while, in essence, urging that Trump escape accountability),

Pres-Elect Biden's Chief of Staff has issued a punchlist of actions that will be taken in the first ten days of the new administration. The following is a description of only the actions that will be taken on January 20: "On Inauguration Day, President-elect Biden will sign roughly a dozen actions to combat the four crises, restore humanity to our immigration system, and make government function for the people.

Yesterday, the Trump administration passed regulations that, by limiting the types of scientific evidence that can be used to support regulations, will hamstring environmental legislation. However, Congress, by a resolution of both houses, can void the regulations if the resolutions are made w/in 60 days after the regulations are put in the FedReg. Since the D's control both houses, I suspect that there will be an attempt to void this regulation.

Of course Donald Trump is a clear and present danger to the United States. Why do you ask?

In 2017, US intelligence was required to extract a covert operative in Moscow due to concerns that Trump et al. had compromised this individual. The individual was was considered the highest level source for the US inside the Kremlin, high up in the national security infrastructure, according to the source familiar with the matter and a former senior intelligence official.

If you have not yet been convinced just how batshit crazy the Trump attack on the election is, just take a look at this filing challenging the alleged expert testimony offered in support of the Trump position. I would call your attention to the first paragraph on page 28 which provides as follows:

"In support of their motion, Plaintiffs cite the "expert testimony" of an individual whose name is redacted but is referred to by Plaintiffs as "Spyder."

Judge Stephanos Bibas of the 3rd Cir. was appointed by Trump. Today, he rejected the Trump campaign's attempt to obtain an injunction to undo PA's certification of votes in the presidential election. His opinion for a 3 judge panel states: "The Campaign’s claims have no merit. The number of ballots it specifically challenges is far smaller than the roughly 81,000-vote margin of victory. And it never claims fraud or that any votes were cast by illegal voters.
