Interesting findings in the SMK source code so far :

➡️There were at some point 5 Battle maps listed
➡️Unused items in the final game (1UP shroom, an "Outside Ghost" and/or an item listed as "The enemy's jump trigger!" (prolly some sort of forced feather for the opponent)

➡️ Koopa & Toad were initially supposed to be faster than Yoshi & Peach, but eventually they were made slower.
➡️Rainbow Road was added very late in the game, previously there was a third Choco Island track.
➡️Seems like NBT are referred as Drift Dash in the game code

Apparently Hovercraft were a thing back then too !!
Early items design, with Pegasus Boots !! (prolly what I referred earlier in the thread as one of the "unused" item
remnants of the 1up (and 2up!!) items.
There is also this thing ... with the battle mode balloons sprites. No idea what it would be !
Also, another proto has been fixed and is now working, it seems to match the "Van Halen" Prototype. No NBT/LB/Slides which make it very weird for me :)
Some minor changes to the known circuit, but its getting closer to the final release (some musics/handling different)

I also managed to extract all maps from the April prototype.
It's actually very interesting looking at the evolution of the Super Mario Kart Tracks throughout the development of the game. Here is an example with CI2:

So apparently initially there was a poo object in Super Mario Kart 💩
Podium ceremony when ending 3rd #prototype
And when ending 2nd #prototype #supermariokart
I went to try the same with the May prototype and it is actually slightly different!
3rd place ceremony, we now have the winged Koopas and the one hit by the champagne cork is jumping instead of just walking
And 2nd place ceremony in the May prototype have the Super Koopa flying, but again behaves differently once hit by the cork.
also we now have the 4th place ceremony (which was not present in the April proto)
Sadly enough, thanks to a fix done on the May proto by @LF_MrL314 (Otherwise game was crashing when entering RR last lap), we found out that there is no Credits scene either in the April proto or the May proto. Seems to be something developed quite late!
