One striking thing about the current data is just how little testing is being done in Arizona. Arizona is the hardest hit state in this second surge of cases. But the amount of testing remains very limited. We can look at this in two ways: the test positivity and the ...
2/ number of daily tests relative to the states population. Here's positivity compared to other current Crisis States. Arizona is in red. As you can see, much higher than all the other states. (The graph here is a seven day moving average of positivity percentage.)
3/ Here is testing on a per capita basis with Arizona, Florida, Texas and New York. Arizona is the orange trend line. (The trend lines are seven day moving averages.)
4/ New York has a lot of testing and Florida has approached its numbers during the latest surge. Arizona has been roughly with Texas on per capita testing. But as you can see the number of testing it's doing has actually gone down over the last couple weeks.
