Portland protest day 58
Wall of veteran
On day 58, just about every demographic is represented among protestors. The thesis is the same: Black Lives Matter
This is where the elk statute, it did not survive 58 days of protest. The mound where it was is now, in the classic sense, the town square
The grill is going @riotribs

Moms in helmets continue to show up
The moms have taken up the front, in front of the veterans
The drum corps moves through the lines @WallOfMoms @VetsWall
Moms in gas masks, standing against federal agents
The reason everyone is out here: Black Lives Matter

DHS is our, their sometimes aiming their riot guns towards the crowd. Here’s what the crowd looks like
Protestors plays national athem on trumpet
Day 58
Today the AUSA said the fence is an attempt to de-escalate.
Day 58
Black Lives Matter flag
Watch what happens when tear gas starts: some move back, some move forward, leaf blowers begin clearing the air. Day 58
Leaf blowers move up, and gas is cleared within a minute
This is the loudest flashbang I have ever experienced
Protestors throw fireworks at federal officers
Federal officers Lob flashbangs and tear gas at protestors, use impact munitions when they try to throw tear gas back
Wall of moms aren’t leaving, tear gas in the air
Federal officers have somebody out taking video
Federal officer, throws tear into crowd
Protestor throws firework, federal officers exchange tear gas and impact munitions
Athena
Federal officer calmly maces protestors, as if watering plants
“If the protesters don’t seek to damage or destroy the fence, then the officers have no need to go outside the fence or leave federal property” AUSA Craig Gabriel today
59 days ago the justice center was set on fire. This is the same streets almost two months later
Moms still out here past midnight
A thousand people standing out here past midnight after the first round of tear gassing
The energy level was dropping, then Federal Protectice service made their announcement and everyone picked up
Protesters have a rope to try and pull the fence down
Coordinating rope pull
The rope snapped and hit a protester in the helmet, he’s ok now
Protesters are trying to hook another rope
Analysis: protesters have tried to bring down every fence erected for the last 59 days. Other fences around the courthouse have come down before. These protesters do these tactics to provoke a response and show how much law enforcement overreact to property damage.
Analysis: Enfant terrible. These protestors are purposefully disobeying authority and showing how law enforcement reacts when they do.

They are trying to break their own tailight and show the gun pointed at them during the traffic stop
Analysis: there is something absurd about protesters in umbrellas and homemade shields facing off against federal officers with assault rifles. But that is their point: a broken taillight should never be met with a gun
Protestors are kneeling against the breach in the fence, federal officers are throwing tear gas and firing impact munitions(this video ends because one strikes my hand)
Protestors are facing off against federal officers, behind umbrellas and homemade shields

Protestors are throwing fireworks and shining lasers

Feds respond with tear gas and impact munitions
Federal officer drags protester to the floor, pushes journalist, and says “get the the fuck out of here” to press
Federal officers bull rush protesters, one briefly raises assault rifle at press line, then takes out mace
An arrest, “my name is Pablo Algato”
Another arrest
Another arrest, as it happens
The absurdity of it is their point
Federal officers hold intersection on 4th and salmon while Portland police move to clear streets further west
Federal officer grabs a flash light from a protester shining it in his face
Tear gas canister shot from riot gun breaks through window of car
Portland police bullrush, push two people, make one arrest
All is fair in love and protest
About 30ft from federal officers
This reporter went in close to smell what this was to verify, I’m finished couching. It’s pepper balls
There’s a line 15 deep @riotribs
I am out of downtown.
