When disabled people tell you we can't do something, we are not issuing you a challenge.

When neurodivergent people tell you we can't do something, we are not begging for your help to prove us wrong.

We are telling you WE CAN'T DO IT, and that's the end of the sentence.
We don't need to overcome anything.

We're not the ones who need to overcome anything at all.

You need to overcome your bullshit weird 'saviour complex' and your desire for our existence to provide you with good inspirational feels.
"I am disabled and I can't do that" is the end of the sentence, not the start of a discussion.
This is especially dangerous and soul destroying when you express anger and frustration when it turns out oh, actually, we were telling the truth and genuinely can't do that thing you've now pressured us into trying to do, and now you're cross with us for not 'overcoming' it.
'You can do anything!' you smile as we try to protest that no, actually, we can't, but you keep saying it until we promise to try.

'I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU CAN'T DO IT!' you scream as we once again fail to do the thing we already told you we can't do.
The worst is when you say it so often that we start to buy into it, and when we inevitably fail we have to deal with our own sense of failure and self-hatred on top of yours.
Before anyone asks, no, I don't know what triggered this rant, I'm just feeling overwhelmed and emotional.
Anyway, trust us to know our owm bodies and brains and let us have boundaries, thanks, bye.
