In 2018, Death was reawakened at Guild Chapel, Stratford-upon-Avon. The monumental Doom painting and the shrouded corpse with worms and bugs creeping out of the creases, were carefully conserved, revealing once more their sobering lessons in mortality and morality.

On the west wall, an angel heralds the poem Erthe upon Erthe: in death you shall be stripped of all earthly gain and glory. Your rewards shall be in Heaven.
On August 13th, our friends @TradPaintForum are hosting an Evening of Doom. They’ll have speakers from the Guild Chapel *and* St Thomas, Salisbury - talking about two of the biggest and most successful Doom conservation projects in recent years.
