[A Thread] Murdoch press is running a story today that Dan Andrews "ignored" advice from the Fed CHO to stop elective surgeries and moved federal aged care residents into hospitals. It's simply untrue. #auspol 1/7
Andrews is receiving advice from many sources and prioritises actions to ensure all the resources at his disposal are allocated to save as many lives as possible. The Fed CHO is just one of many sources. Not ignored, but not prioritised as Murdoch would have liked. #auspol 2/7
Switching off elective surgery and shifting aged care residents into hospitals is also not something that can be done instantly. It takes some planning and organisation and further reallocation of resources. #auspol 3/7
At the end of the day, Federal aged-care facilities, via poor staff ratios, poor training and a casualised workforce are behind the aged-care catastrophe unfolding in Victoria. State run facilities have had very few cases. That's a statistical FACT. #auspol 4/7
Morrison and Murdoch are desperately trying to shift the blame on to Dan Andrews yet again, but Victorians are not fooled. We still remember #BronwynBishop's kerosene baths as an example of federal oversight of the sector. #auspol 5/7
Dan Andrews first priority is saving the lives of Australians. He has now stepped into save the Federal sector by allocating state resources to care for aged Victorians in Federally overseen nursing homes. He didn't have to, but it's the right thing to do. 6/7
Politicising the healthcare of Australians is despicable. I note it's the usual cohort on public health menaces; @TimSmithMP, @georgiecrozier, @MatthewGuyMP et al who are spreading the @NewsCorpAus article. They should be condemned. #auspol 7/7
