Arts, film & heritage bodies where organisations can apply for funds will be putting out advice today which I’ll share Image
In first funding round £622m will be distributed

🎭 £500m via @ace_national to museums & galleries, theatres, music & comedy orgs

🎥 £30m via @BFI to indy cinemas

🏰 £92m via @HeritageFundUK & @HistoricEngland to heritage sites

Funding for people, buildings & organisations
Arts orgs will need to show how they will innovate to be sustainable with funding

And we need the public to support arts organisations in any way they can too - some are diversifying their income streams, & increasing opening hours if safe to do so

To confirm today’s announcements

1.Sports

Unfortunately we cannot proceed with pilots with 1000 fans & the wider 1st Oct reopening with socially distanced fans

I understand the seriousness of the impact of this & am working with sports &govt colleagues on how we support them
2. Business Events

Likewise business events are not permitted to reopen in a covid secure way with social distancing from 1st Oct as was our ambition

This is an important sector & a large employer & I recognise the importance of getting this sector back on its feet quickly
3. 10pm closing time

This will apply across a range of hospitality and leisure sectors including casinos

It will not apply to theatres and cinemas where performances may run over the 10pm deadline

With everyone’s hard work we’ve continued to keep the virus under control so we can now allow more leisure, sport and cultural activities to reopen safely

Pilots with fans can now continue from 15th August starting with the final of the World Snooker Championships in #Sheffield
