The Barr hearing was the latest example of Dems acting like they don't believe the polls that show them way ahead in the election. They're willing to look ridiculous and dispense with all appeals to moderate voters just to toss a little red meat to their hardcore base.
The hearing also demonstrated Democrat opposition to the rule of law, much like the riots carried out by their extremist wing and the Obama administration spying on the Trump campaign. The common thread in every story yesterday was Dems thinking the rules don't apply to them.
All the way down to the dangerous stupidity of acting like the coronavirus is irrelevant when left-wingers want to hold a mass demonstration, Dems view "justice" as a subjective political construct. There are no absolute laws that everyone must obey no matter who they are.
This belief is explicitly stated in Democrat racialist philosophies, which hold that massive injustices must be perpetrated against designated enemy groups (white people, rich people, heterosexuals, the middle class) in order to achieve cosmic "justice" for past wrongs.
Why would you expect anyone who really believes that junk - anyone who really thinks a teenager in 2020 should be punished for the actions of people who weren't even related to him in 1619 - to believe other rules should apply to wise elites and righteous crusaders?
Of course they don't. They scoff at the notion of equal rules applying to everyone as completely absurd. How could the enlightened ruling class possibly enact its noble agenda if it had to obey the same laws as those grubby little Deplorables?
How could the brave defenders of the Earth combat global warming if THEY can't use cars and airplanes? How could leaders deliver justice to the masses if THEY don't have armed protection? How could you build socialist utopia without punishing innocent people? It's ridiculous!
That conviction leaks into everything the Left does. The rules simply don't apply to them, or to their favored constituencies. People with certified grievances get to color outside the lines. It's understandable if they get violent. They must force the cruel masses to hear them!
And if the noble government built by hard-working socialists is threatened by some rogue outsider - who probably stole the election by colluding with sinister outside forces! - then the outgoing administration is perfectly entitled to break all the rules to stop him.
There are two myths that loom large in the Left's imagination: King Arthur and Robin Hood. They scoff at the Arthurian ideal because he foolishly allowed everything he built to come crashing down by stubbornly insisting the rules must apply equally to kings and peasants.
Robin Hood, conversely, is the Left's romantic ideal: Rob from the rich and give to the poor! Break the law to deliver justice! Every lefty looks in the mirror and sees Robin Hood grinning back at him. That's how you get Antifa/BLM riots, Russiagate, and the Barr hearing. /end
