Trump goes full NIMBY, will hopefully serve to help shame housing opponents in the expensive blue metros. 
The sophisticated way for Trump to make this pitch would be to say he’s against immigration because he’s trying to protect the historic character of the neighborhood.
A couple of years ago, Trump’s HUD team had the (correct) opposite view on all this.
