making the most of A'rafah; a thread

The complete first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah are given immense value by Allah S.W.T. He attaches so much importance to these days that He S.W.T swears by them in The Holy Quran. 

Allah, the Most High & Exalted says: “By the Dawn; By the ten nights”

[Surah Al-Fajr:1-2]

1.Fasting: For those not going to hajj, fasting on this day will absolve the sins from the previous year and the coming year, make sure you fast!

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Fasting the day of `Arafah expiates the sins of two years: the past one and the coming one.” (Muslim)

2. Stay clear of Major sins: including Shirk, Zina, disobedience to parents, bribery, not giving Zakah, drinking, slandering, interest, losing hope in the Mercy  of Allah and not fearing Allah. instead of these focus so hard on praying extra Ibadah

3. Make Fard Salah your TOP priority

Remember, If you can fix your Salah, your Salah will fix everything else for you

4. Recite lots of Tahleel, Takbeer, Tahmeed and Tasbeeh

Takbeer means "Allahu Akbar"
Tahmeed means "Alhamdulilah"
Tahleel is "Laa-ilaaha-ilAllah"
Tasbeeh is "SubhanAllah"

5. Recite Qur'an abundantly
If you already are in habit of reading Quran regularly, then you may set a goal of readig another Juz or reading the Tafseer of a Surah or two everyday during these 10 days, especially on the Day of Arafah.

6. It is the day of forgiveness and freedom from the Fire

Prophet (ﷺ) said: “There is no day on which Allaah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of ‘Arafaah. He comes close and expresses His pride to the angels, saying, ‘What do these people want?’” [Muslim]

7. always be nice to your parents, but we should be extra nice to them on this day

this one is probably the most difficult one for young Muslims. No matter how angry you are at your parents for any reason, make a promise to yourself on the Day of A'rafah not be angry at them

8. Give Charity,

Spending in the way of Allah is one of the most beloved acts of worship in Islam. Charity does not only mean you have to spend money on the poor.

9. Re-think the purpose of your life and make a fresh start,

we don’t think about the purpose of our lives everyday. These 10 days including the Day of Arafah can be the turning point in your life.

10. Go out of your way to do Ibadah & more good deeds,

make lots of Du'as, taubah and Istighfar do as many good deeds as possible, simple good deeds be nice to people and smile at them

and if you have missed to fast the other 9 days of Dhul Hijja at least try to fast the Day of A'rafah After all, it’s just ONE day. And you know what happens when you do that?

Almighty Allah says, “All the deeds of the son of Adam are for him, except fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it.”’ [Sahih Al-Bukhari]

there is actually NO excuses not to fast on A'rafah, it's lockdown and we are all home, so why don't we do something that benefit our akhira a great deal, let's make the most of Ar'afah In'Sha'Allah

آمِيْنُ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِيْن 🤲🏻
